1. Usually, the most common method to determine whether it could be used at that sector is thru the 20 Year Flying Star chart.
2. For example: if the main entrance area has nasty stars like:-
2.1 #5 and/or #2 and/or with #9 then RED will further inflame either #5 (misfortune/sickness) or #2 (sickness)
2.2 On the other hand, if the sector has #3 or even #4; RED would be good at that sector.
3. "Rule-of-thumb" method: some just ignore what I had mentioned above - and go for it......

Placement of red mat at entrance of house Anonymous
Hi Masters
The entrance of my house is located at the NW corner. During Chinese New Year, is it alright that I place a red floor mat outside the entrance? Other times, I will usually place a blue mat here.
